SAI Baba knows whatever we Vow

One Mr. Cholkar, a devoted listener at the kirtan, was so moved that he prayed to Baba for a permanent job. Cholkar mentally told Baba that he would come to Shirdi and distribute sugar candy in Baba’s name if he got the job. Cholkar got the job by Baba’s grace. Now Cholkar had to take a trip to Shirdi and distribute sugar candy. To save for the Shirdi trip, Cholkar started having tea without sugar. Then, as per his vow, Cholkar came to Shirdi, fell at Baba’s feet and said that he was very pleased with His darshan and his desires were fulfilled that day. Then, without any mention of Cholkar’s vow, Baba casually said to Bapusaheb Jog “Give him cups of tea fully saturated with sugar” (Chapter 15) (Baba knows everything. He knows the untold story of Cholkar having tea without sugar for saving money. Baba wanted by His words to create faith and devotion in Cholkar’s mind) This is very important for us to remember. Baba knows whatever we vow. Through Cholkar’s story Baba is sending us, a message Shraddha & Saburi.. Om Sai Ram..

Baba SAI Reminds the Vows Even Which His Disciples Forgot

Devotees used to visit the Masjid to have Darshan of Baba. They would bring their favourite food items vowed and offer them as customary naivedya to Baba. Baba used to distribute all the food items brought to Him. Sometimes He did not touch the offerings placed before Him by a devotee; but, at times, He accepted and relished the dishes bought by other devotees.

Tharkad's wife sent a sweet for Baba with Govinda Balaram Mankar who was going to Shirdi. In fact that sweet was already offered to God; since no sweet was found in the house, Mrs. Tharkad had sent the sweet already offered to God.

Mankar came to Shirdi but forgot to offer the sweet. Baba asked him "What have you brought for Me"? Mankar kept quiet. Baba repeated the question in the evening. "Has not my mother sent anything for Me"? By directly questioning so, Mankar remembered the sweet to be given to Baba. On another occasion, Tarkad's wife sent two brinjals with Purandar's wife for Baba. She asked her to fry one brinjal and mix the other one in curd and offer it to Baba.

Purandar's wife has minced and mixed a brinjal in curd and offered it to Baba. Amazingly, Baba asked for the fried brinjal slices. He knew the depth of devotion in the heart of a devotee and, therefore, He used to remind the vows of His beloved devotees, accepted the offerings and blessed them.

How Wonderful Human Birth is

For each individual, a mission in life is fixed by God. Only those who have grasped their objective in life will succeed. Baba used to comment, "There is nothing wrong in failing to accomplish an objective, but having no objective is a blunder". Trees give us the comfort of cool shade, flowers and fruits, without anticipating anything in return from us. Cows yield milk as a mark of gratitude for the fodder we feed them. Selflessly, the clouds shower rain and the rivers share their waters to irrigate the farm lands. On a deeper analysis, we could understand that every creature in this universe, by one way or other, possess the noble quality of sacrifice. It is not justified if we, the humans, blessed as we are with the power of discretion and intellect, live lazily without any sense of direction or mission in life.

Baba loves us as dearly as He loves every living being in the Universe. Our inner voice of the soul would guide us on the right path to successful living once we know the truth that we should fulfil the definite mission in our lives blessed by the Divine Love and Grace of Baba. The power in our hands can carve out a statue from a stone or leave it as a boulder. So, let us not waste our precious life and keep praying to Baba to help us achieve the definite purpose of our life.

Om Sai Ram..

Importance of RAMNAVMI celebration at Shirdi (Baba Nagri)

In 1897, Gopalrao Gund proposed holding an urs in Shirdi as an expression of his gratitude to Baba for having been granted the birth of a son after many childless years. Baba gave his permission for the celebration and fixed the day for Ramnavami. This was an ingenious touch of Baba's. Urs is a Muslim festival honouring a Muslim saint (usually one who has passed away); by holding the urs on the day of a Hindu festival, the two communities were brought closer together in a natural yet remarkable way. The festival gradually grew in importance and in 1912 some devotees asked Baba if they could celebrate Ramnavami, since it fell on the same day (Ramnavami is the anniversary of Lord Rama's birth). Baba agreed and the festival was held in grand style. From that day, says the Sri Sai Satcharitra, "the urs was transformed into the Ramnavami festival". In Shirdi, two locally historic rituals are carried out during this festival: the sack of wheat that is kept in Dwarkamai is changed and the old one taken to Prasadalaya to be used there, and secondly, the Dwarkamai flags are replaced. When the urs was first celebrated, Gopalrao Gund prevailed upon his friend to supply a flag for the procession. This was Damu Anna Rasne of Ahmednagar who had similarly been blessed by Sai Baba with sons, having come to Baba for this purpose on the recommendation of Shama's father-in-law. In addition, Gund asked Nanasaheb Nimonkar to supply a second flag with embroidery. This was also done and both flags (described as "huge" by M. W. Pradhan, who saw them) were taken in procession through the village and fixed at the two corners of the mosque. Descendants of these two devotees continue this tradition and flags are brought and offered at Baba's samadhi before being taken on a grand procession. The procession begins - as it did in Baba's time - at the house of the three carpenters who did the bulk of the repair work on the mosque (Tukaram, Gabaji and Kondaji, the first of whom personally served Baba for several years). In the evening, the descendants of Abdul Baba perform a traditional "Sandal Procession", finishing at Dwarkamai and applying the sandalwood paste to the nimbar there.

The Ram Navami celebrates the joyous birth of Lord Rama. Ayodhya was the cynosure of all eyes, as King Dasharath finally had an heir to the throne. Lord Rama an avatar of lord Vishnu, agreed to come down to earth to fight the mighty Ravana.
