Baba Teachings

Baba encouraged his devotees to pray, chant God's name and read holy scriptures - he told Muslims to study the Qur'an, and Hindus, texts like the Ramayana, Vishnu Sahasranam, Bhagavad Gita (and commentaries to it), Yoga Vasistha. He advised his devotees and followers to lead a moral life, help others, treat them with love and develop two important features of character: faith (Shraddha) and patience (Saburi). He also criticized atheism.In his teachings Sai emphasised the importance of performing one's duties without attachment to earthly matters and being ever content regardless of the situation..

Similarities in the teachings of Baba & Jessus, from The Sai Satcharita & The Bible..

On reading the below article, I am quite amazed to find that many of Baba's teachings and sayings correspond very closely and sometimes even identically to what Christ say's in the Bible. God is One. Again after reading we all should say fron the bottom of the heart "Sabka Malik Ek". Let's Bow in front of our Lord & God Shri SAI Maharaj.

In this post, I will try to show the similarities in the some teachings & quote from The Shri Sai Satcharita of Hemadpant and from The Bible in the referred article.

a) Bible: "Jesus also explains in Matthew (12.36) that any idle words a man speaks will have to be accounted for on the judgment day. So you must also avoid idle words and gossip."

Shri Sai Satcharita: In Chapter XXI, Baba chides the Pandharpur Pleader for his part in joining others at the bar-room in reviling Mr. Noolkar for his faith in Baba..

b) Bible : "And again in Matthew (25.35-46) we find that it is expected that a good Christian must feed and clothe the poor, and take in the homeless, though they be strangers, for as much as you do this for them, you do it also for Jesus." 

Shri Sai Satcharita : In Chapter IX, page 56, Baba tells Mrs. Tarkhad (who had fed the hungry dog), "He, who sees Me in all these creatures, is My beloved. So, abandon the sense of duality and distinction, and serve Me as you did today."

c)  Bible : "In Matthew (19.20-30), a man comes to Jesus and wants to follow him, but Jesus tells him to first sell everything he has and give the money to the poor. However, the man could not bring himself to do that and sadly went away. Jesus explained to his disciples that hardly any rich man can enter heaven; it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle."

Shri Sai Satcharita : In Chapter XVI & XVII is the story of the rich gentleman who wanted quick Brahma-gyan. Baba tells him "Unless you completely get rid of your avarice or greed you will not get the real Brahma."

d) Bible : "In Luke (9.61-62), there is the story of a man who came to Jesus and asked to follow him, but first simply wanted to bid farewell to his family. But Jesus rejected him and said that no man, having once put his head to the plough and looks back, is fit for the kingdom of God. In another place in Luke (9.59-60), Jesus orders a man to follow him, but the man requests that Jesus first allow him to bury his dead father. Jesus, however, says to let the dead bury their dead, and go preach the kingdom of God."

Shri Sai Satcharita : In Chapter XXXI, Page 165, Baba chides the Chennai's sanyasi Vijayanand who on hearing of his mother's illness, wanted to go to her side. He says, "If you so loved your mother, why did you take Sanyaas? Attachment makes misuse of an ochre garb."

e) Bible : "In Matthew (18.34-35), Jesus says that the Lord will punish you if you do not forgive everybody of their trespasses against you."

Shri Sai Satcharita : Chapter X, Page 59:  Baba says, "If anyone does any evil undo you, do not retaliate. If you can do anything, do some good unto others".

What other Saints said about Baba SAI (Shri Sai Satcharitra)

The Vaishya Householder saint of Puntambe, Gangagir always came to Shirdi. When he saw Sai Baba carrying pitchers of water in both hands to water the garden, he said openly “Blessed is Shirdi, that it got a precious jewel. This man is carrying water today but he is not an ordinary fellow. As this land Shirdi is lucky, it secured this Jewel” (Chapter 5)

The famous saint Anandnath of Yewala Math, a disciple of Akkalkote Maharaja came to Shirdi. When he saw Baba, he said “This is a precious diamond in reality. Though he looks like an ordinary man, he is no ordinary stone. You will realize this in the future” (Chapter 5)

Akkalkote Maharaj appeared in the dream of Bhai Krishnaji and said “Now Shirdi is my resting place. Go there and offer the worship” (Chapter 5)

Sai Baba to Bhai Krishnaji “ Oh, what is there in Akkalkote? Why do you go there? The incumbent Maharaj of that place is here, Myself” (Chapter 5)

“When you go to north in the discharge of duties, you will come across a great saint by your good luck and then He will show you the future path and give rest to your mind and make you happy” Kanarese Saint Appa to V.H. Thakur. (Chapter 21)

मैंने तो हर पल साई साई जपना ही अपना काम बना लिया है, मुझे कहीं जाने की जरूरत नहीं, क्योंकि मैंने अपने मन मन्दिर को ही शिरडी धाम बना लिया है।।

मेरे मालिक साई माना की शिरडी बहुत दूर है, लेकिन जब भी मैंने तुझे पुकारा तू आया जरूर है।।

मैंने वंगा चढ़ा लैयाँ ने साई दे दरबार दियाँ, साई  ने मैनू खुशियाँ दितियाँ ने सारे संसार दियाँ।।

मेरे साई की अदभुत माया है, जो हर कोई समझ न पाया है।।

जमीं पे चिमटा मार के साई अग्नि जलाता हैं, जमीं पे ही साई सटके से पानी की धार बहाता हैं ।।

वेदों ने पार तुम्हारा न पाया है, हे साई तेरी कैसी अदभुत माया है।।

हर चेहरे में ही साई का नूर है, साई तो हमारे साथ है नहीं दूर है।।

बाबा साई जा रहे हैं करने लैंडी बाग की सैर,
जल्दी जल्दी कदम बढाओ पकडो साई के पैर।।

SAI' Love & Care For His Devotee's, Baba Knows Whatever We Vow..

Dasganu’s kirtans had an electric effect. At the Koupineshwar temple in Thane, Dasganu performed a kirtan. One Mr. Cholkar, a devoted listener at the kirtan, was so moved that he prayed to Baba for a permanent job. Cholkar mentally told Baba that he would come to Shirdi and distribute sugar candy in Baba’s name if he got the job.

Cholkar got the job by  Baba’s grace. Now Cholkar had to take a trip to Shirdi and distribute  sugar candy. To save for the Shirdi trip, Cholkar started having tea without sugar. Then, as per his vow, Cholkar came to Shirdi, fell at Baba’s lotus feet and said that he was very pleased with His darshan and his desires were fulfilled that day. 

Then, without any mention of Cholkar’s vow, Baba casually said to Bapusaheb Jog ::

“Give him cups of tea fully saturated with sugar” (Chapter 15).

Baba knows everything. He knows the untold story of Cholkar having tea without sugar for saving money. Baba wanted by His words to create faith and devotion in Cholkar’s mind.

(This is very important for us to remember. Baba knows whatever  we vow. Through Cholkar’s story Baba SAI is showing is Love & Care for his devotee's.)
